There is this one emotional state that can be more powerful than any political regime in the world. It can be the source of so many problems and at the same time it can transform millions of lives. It gave birth to World War II and it also gave birth to India’s freedom from Great Britain.
At the heart of all of this, lies the power and energy of anger. How is it possible that anger can be so destructive in one person’s hands and in the next, it liberates and revolutionizes millions of lives? It all depends on how you define anger. Do you borrow your definition from people around you, especially many religious groups, that defines anger as something negative and bad? Or do you define it as something that has the energy and the power to be used for constructive purposes?
Unfortunately the majority of people tend to see it as something negative and therefore they suppress it. But as someone once said: “Feelings never die; they are buried alive and come forth later in uglier ways.” This is exactly what we experience in the world today; the outcomes of suppressed anger.
Imagine if you can turn your anger into something you are really passionate about…
The anger I experience is the fact that 30 000 children will die today due to poverty while a hand full of the worlds richest people in the world could have prevented it. Not only for the day but forever.
I can choose to let it make me feel miserable. I can choose to hate the world’s richest people. But I choose to take responsibility to gain influence and trust among them. I choose to change this phenomenon forever.
What are you most angry about?
Do you allow yourself to acknowledge it?
Do you allow yourself to fell and tap into it?
What do you choose to do?
I believe that the world’s greatest accomplishments came out of anger that was turned into that person’s passion. I believe that Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, etc. tapped into the anger they had about their circumstances, to accomplish the things they did.
Anger is taken to a whole new level the moment you decide to use your anger to the benefit of others. Anger can be used as a passion where you only serve yourself (which is also necessary) or it can be used in an extraordinary way to change the world forever.
